S. Zev Williams, MD, PhD is the Wendy D. Havens Associate Professor of Women's Health and the Chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed his MD and PhD training in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. After his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Williams pursued a post-doctoral fellowship on RNA biology in the laboratory of Dr. Thomas Tuschl at Rockefeller University.
As a physician-scientist, Dr. Williams focuses on recurrent pregnancy loss and infertility, developing novel technologies and treatments to improve patient outcomes. His research includes methods for non-invasive real-time assessment of placental structure and function through circulating RNA and innovations in sequencing technologies for rapid testing of chromosomal abnormalities in embryos, CVS, amniocentesis, and miscarriage samples. He holds board certifications in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Williams directs the Columbia University Fertility Center and has appointments as Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, with hospital affiliation at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
