Library jobs in Ireland higher education include librarians, scholarly communications, archives, research-data support, teaching librarians, and library technicians inside universities and research institutes. Academic Jobs filters this page to librarian position types so you get campus library roles, not public-library or bookstore listings mixed in by a keyword.

The heading count is the current number of library jobs in Ireland. Filter by city, institution, or a specialty keyword (digital scholarship, metadata, law library, medical library). Adjacent searches on AJ: Admin Jobs for library operations managers posted as administration, and Research Jobs when a library is hiring a research-data or bibliometrics specialist on a research contract.

Academic library posts are specialised and easy to miss. Many are only on the university jobs page and a library association board. AJ puts them next to the rest of higher-ed hiring so you can compare campuses and set one alert. That matters when a scholarly communications librarian role is open for three weeks and you were only watching two libraries.

The job-seeker question is “library jobs at universities in Ireland.” AJ answers with a librarian-filtered list and a live number. Read each listing for faculty vs professional-staff status, liaison areas, and whether the post is ongoing. Then apply. You should not have to run a generic “librarian” search and throw away half the results that are not higher education.
