Occupational Summary:
To oversee the administration of the residence hall, including the implementation of programs that facilitate the educational, personal, and social growth and development of all resident students. To co-supervise all Resident Assistants, and to communicate day-to-day safety and facility concerns to appropriate campus administrators.
Role and Responsibilities/ Essential Job Functions:
- To prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports.
- To communicate, interpret, and enforce all residence hall and College policies and guidelines with hall residents.
- Administer appropriate discipline, as warranted, in conjunction with immediate supervisor.
- Serve as liaison between the residence halls and College Administration.
- Establish and support the residence hall's quarterly/annual goals and objectives.
- Coordinate the potential use of the residence halls during the off-season.
- To oversee emergency/crisis situations in a professional manner.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and support Resident Assistant staff.
- Conduct regular staff meetings providing assistance with floor administration, programming, discipline, and student concerns.
- Participate in all College in-services, professional developments, and training programs.
- Oversee the efficient opening and closing of the residence halls.
- Participate in and help facilitate residence hall orientations.
- Work to achieve and maintain a hall environment that is a positive living-learning experience for all residents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor degree from a four-year college or university required
- Student Affairs and/or Residence Life experience preferred
- Residence hall living experience required; residence hall leadership experience preferred
Required Skills:
- Knowledgeable and proficient in computer skills, which allows for the use of computer related technology including Microsoft Office, internet and social media familiarity.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:
This job requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Work performed both inside and outside of buildings. Moderate to loud noise environment.
- Residence Hall Coordinator may be required to be on call and available nights and weekends; however, they will need to be available, and on campus, for all events and activities, as they occur.
- Full-time residence in Baker College-provided housing may be required based on campus location.

Baker College of Cadillac is seeking a new Residence Hall Coordinator!
As the Residence Hall Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in the vibrant community of our residence hall. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing administrative functions, spearheading programs to enhance the educational, personal, and social development of our resident students, co-supervising Resident Assistants, and ensuring effective communication of safety and facility concerns to campus administrators.
Candidates applying for the Residence Hall Coordinator position must meet several minimum qualifications. A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is mandatory, with a preference for those holding a major in Student Affairs. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates must have prior experience in Residence Hall Occupancy and either possess First Aid & CPR certification or obtain it within six months of employment. Previous living experience within a residence hall setting is necessary, with preference given to those who have demonstrated leadership in this environment. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet Familiarity, and Social Media. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective interaction with diverse individuals and groups. These qualifications ensure that candidates are equipped with the necessary skills and experiences to succeed in this role and contribute positively to our residence hall community.
A successful candidate for the Residence Hall Coordinator position will undertake a variety of responsibilities aimed at fostering a supportive and enriching environment within the residence halls. These include preparing weekly, monthly, and annual reports, effectively communicating and enforcing residence hall and College policies with residents, and administering discipline when necessary in collaboration with their immediate supervisor. Additionally, they will serve as a liaison between the residence halls and College administration, establish and support the achievement of quarterly and annual goals, and coordinate potential off-season use of the residence halls. In times of emergency or crisis, they will demonstrate professionalism and maintain a calm demeanor while overseeing the situation. Furthermore, they will be responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and supporting Resident Assistant staff, conducting regular staff meetings, and participating in College in-services, professional development, and training programs. They will ensure the efficient opening and closing of the residence halls, facilitate residence hall orientations, and work diligently to cultivate a positive living-learning experience for all residents.
