The Rocket Admission Specialist position within Southern Arkansas University Tech’s Enrollment Services Office will play a key collaborative role in advancing the college and meeting the enrollment objectives. The individual, with general oversight from the Director of Admissions and Recruiting, will be responsible for articulating SAU Tech’s message to prospective students and their families in a variety of public settings. context of functional office operations and planning is key. This position is also responsible for the management of an assigned recruiting territory, working with students and families through the complete enrollment process from application generation, to submission of required documents, and completion all tasks necessary to transition to the college including orientation, housing, class scheduling, immunization, final transcript review etc.

This position requires extensive travel (most requiring overnight stays) during the College Fair season (Aug – Oct) and occasional travel during the other months. This position will also give campus tours and participate in other student recruiting events on campus including SOAR and Preview Day as well as office responsibilities while not on the road recruiting.

Examples of Duties:

Territory Recruitment & Management (30%)

Represents the college and its programs to the general public at in-state and out-of-state recruitment events, including high school and college visits, college fairs, visits to schools and community-based organizations, receptions, interviews, information sessions, and presentations.
Assists in data analysis when planning trips to assigned territory.
Builds and cultivates key relationships and partnerships with constituents, such as: prospective students and families, secondary school communities, community-based organizations, Alumni, and professional organizations.
Performs detailed and personalized outreach to prospective students such as: phone calling, emailing, text messaging, social media, and other communications as needed.
Assists in executing all large on-campus and off-campus recruitment events.
Recruits and engages alumni/parents to increase coverage in key recruitment territories.

Admissions Counseling (30%)

Counsels prospective undergraduate applicants and their families regarding SAU Tech academic programs, extracurricular opportunities, scholarships, admissions policies and procedures. This interaction may include phone, in-person, or written contacts. In-person contacts may include group presentations in addition to individual interviews.
In all counseling situations, employee must be thoroughly knowledgeable about SAU Tech academic and extracurricular opportunities and clearly articulate advantages of the SAU Tech experience. Further, the employee must be accurate in describing admissions policies, criteria and procedures.
Individual must be responsive to prospective students’ concerns and needs by providing excellent customer service.
Works assigned office shifts to provide strong customer service in the form of information sessions and other customer service as necessary.

Admissions Evaluation (30%)

Assists with all phases of the application processing.
An ability to complete timely review of applications from an assigned set of high schools and assists others as needed. File review activities include monitoring files for completeness, fielding questions from applicants, and notifying the secondary readers of significant exceptions requiring review.

Special projects as assigned (10%)

Including, but not limited to projects pertaining to scholarship coordination, campus visit & events, student employment, school counselor engagement, diversity & inclusion, web & CRM management, social media recruitment activities, or other special projects.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications:

Education equivalent to a high school diploma
Must have valid driver’s license with ability to drive state fleet vehicles
Self-motivation with ability to work independently
Strong team orientation, effective interpersonal skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills
Background check required

On-Campus 40 hour week position. If not residing within a reasonable commuting distance of Camden, AR, relocation is expected.
SAU Tech offices are well-lit with artificial lighting.
