Background on Singapore's Ferry Connectivity
Singapore serves as a key gateway for regional travel, with ferry services playing a vital role in connecting the city-state to nearby Indonesian destinations such as Batam. The HarbourFront area has long been a central hub for these short-sea voyages, facilitating both leisure and business trips across the Singapore Strait.
The Existing Terminal and Upcoming Changes
The current HarbourFront Passenger Terminal operates within HarbourFront Centre. Plans for redevelopment by Mapletree Investments have prompted the shift to an interim facility to maintain uninterrupted services during the transition period.
Details of the New HarbourFront Terminal
The new terminal is situated at 5 HarbourFront Avenue, approximately 70 metres from the existing location inside HarbourFront Centre. Operated by Singapore Cruise Centre, the facility is designed to handle ferry and cruise operations seamlessly.
Travelers can expect the same routes and schedules to continue without alteration. Services to Batam Centre, Harbour Bay, Sekupang, Tanjung Balai Karimun, Gold Coast, and Nirup Island remain available as before.
Phased Transition Schedule
Operations will move in stages during July. Batam Fast Ferry will commence services from the new terminal on July 7. All other ferry operators, including Horizon Fast Ferry, Majestic Fast Ferry, Sindo Ferry, and Indo Falcon Shipping & Travel, along with cruise activities, will transition from July 15.

Batam Fast Ferry as the Pioneer Operator
Batam Fast Ferry, a established provider of routes to Batam and surrounding islands, takes the lead in utilizing the upgraded facility. The company maintains multiple daily sailings, with journey times typically ranging from 45 to 70 minutes depending on the destination.
What Travelers Need to Know
Passengers should verify their departure terminal when booking or checking in, especially around the transition dates. Check-in counters and facilities will relocate to the new building at 5 HarbourFront Avenue. No major disruptions to ticketing or boarding processes are anticipated.
Those traveling to Batam for short getaways or longer stays can continue using familiar operators and vessels. Schedules are available through operator websites and booking platforms.
Impact on Regional Tourism and Travel
The relocation supports ongoing connectivity between Singapore and Indonesia, bolstering tourism flows to Batam, a popular destination for shopping, dining, and beach resorts. The interim terminal ensures continuity while the original site undergoes redevelopment.
Future Outlook for HarbourFront Ferry Services
Once redevelopment of HarbourFront Centre is complete, long-term plans may involve further enhancements to passenger facilities. The current move positions the terminal for sustained operations amid urban growth in the HarbourFront precinct.

Practical Tips for Using the New Terminal

Broader Context of Singapore's Maritime Links
Ferry services complement air and land connections, offering an efficient option for regional journeys under two hours. The HarbourFront hub contributes to Singapore's role as a maritime and tourism node in Southeast Asia.
