Peter Simmonds is a virologist affiliated with the University of Turku in Finland. His research focuses on the genomics, evolution, and epidemiology of RNA viruses, including hepatitis C virus, noroviruses, and other human and animal viruses. He has contributed to viral taxonomy and the use of metagenomic approaches to discover and characterize new viruses.
