12-Month Half-Time Contractually Limited Librarian

About the Position

The Vaughan Memorial Library invites applications from candidates for a 12-month half-time contractually limited term position at the rank of Librarian I or Librarian II commencing on July 1st, 2026. In this half-time position, the successful candidate will normally work 17.5 hours per week and will be remunerated at 50% of full-time salary based on determined rank and salary grid step (further salary details below).

As a member of Research Services at the Vaughan Memorial Library, the successful candidate will take on liaison responsibilities for the Department of Economics, as well as the coordinating responsibility for outreach and events.

Liaison duties include but are not limited to: developing and delivering information literacy sessions; providing one-on-one research consultations for students and faculty in liaison departments; collections development and management in liaison subject areas; maintaining online research guides for liaison subject areas; communicating and collaborating with faculty and students in liaison departments.

The outreach and events coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering programming and events to promote the library and connect with students and faculty. Some examples of past outreach programming and events at the VML include: welcome activities for incoming students, de-stress activities during exam periods, and thesis writing events for graduate students.

The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in scholarly and professional activity, which may include academic research and publication, and participation in academic and professional conferences. The candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in their work, and the interest and willingness to participate in service and administrative activities within the department, the university, and externally.

Half-Time Salary Range:

• Librarian I: $36,180 - $45,980 (50% of the full-time salary range of $72,359 - $91,959)
• Librarian II: $41,780 - $51,580 (50% of the full-time salary range of $83,559 - $103,159)

Salary will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Academic Qualifications

Master of Library Science or its equivalent from an institution accredited by the American Library Association or an equivalent organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic, professional, community-based, or lived experience in the area of Economics
• Experience developing and delivering outreach or promotional events
• Experience delivering information literacy instruction or teaching in other capacities
