12-MONTH TERM POSITION – Department of English, Drama and Creative Writing
The Department of English, Drama and Creative Writing invites applications for a 12-month term position. The successful candidate will teach the following courses:
- 30.147: Literary Traditions (two sections)
- 20/30.373: Medieval Drama
- 30.380: Geoffrey Chaucer: The Resurgence of English
- 30.463: Themes in Medieval Literature
The successful candidate will join a department with supportive colleagues that are actively working towards equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in their research and teaching programs. The candidate will have opportunities to develop their career and have access to a Professional Development Allowance. Additionally, multiple professional mentorship opportunities are available to the successful candidate. Willingness to participate collegially in service to the department, university, and the community that it serves will be expected.
The essential qualification is a PhD in English Literature with a specialization in the medieval period or a PhD in a related / interdisciplinary field. ABD applicants nearing completion prior to the start date of the appointment may be considered. Applicants seeking to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate degree are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee for more information on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.
Applicants must demonstrate teaching competence and expertise in the field and must have an active research agenda. Experience with theatre and/or drama would be considered an asset.
Expected Start Date: 1 August, 2026.
Rank and Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
