Work plan: The work plan to be executed includes the following tasks: 1) Collection of organisms (octopuses) and optimization of culture conditions (e.g. social learning and play, presence or absence of shelters and partitions); 2) Characterization of biochemical composition and determination of different growth rates; 3) Stress physiology, namely quantification of biomarkers linked to oxidative stress; 4) Participation in dissemination, communication and involvement activities of project agents. This work plan is included in tasks 1, 2, 4 and 6 of the project OCTOCULT.

Legislation framework: Research Fellowship Holder Statute, in accordance with Law 40/2004, of 18 August, in its current version and the FCT Regulation for Research Studentships and Fellowships, in its current version (Reg. 950/2019 published in DR on 16th December: https://dre.pt/application/file/a/127230968, or at the FCT website: https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt), and FCiências.ID Fellowship Regulation, as approved on 12th May 2020 (available at Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação Científica da FCiências.ID).
7. Place of work: The work will be developed at the MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, ULisboa, Laboratório Marítimo da Guia, under the scientific supervision of Professor Rui Afonso Bairrão da Rosa.
8. Fellowship duration: This position is initially opened for 6 months due to start in September 2026. The fellowship contract may be potentially renewed for 6 months, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation of Research Fellowships from the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P and FCiências.ID Fellowship Regulation.
9. Monthly allowance: The fellowship amounts to 1359,64 €, according to table values of the fellowships awarded directly by the FCT, IP. The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can ensure the right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance scheme, if not covered by any other social protection scheme, pursuant to Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The fellowship will be paid monthly by bank transfer.

Evaluation and selection process: Candidates will be assessed by CV Quality - 100%, CV evaluation will be based on the following criteria: i) experience in research projects (as a research project fellow) - 10%; ii) experience in animal tagging using non-invasive techniques - 20%; iii) experience in marine invertebrates behavioural analyses - 30%; iv) participation in national or international conferences, with oral or poster communications focused on cephalopod research - 40%. Applicants whose application is scored with a final classification of less than 50 points are not eligible for granting a fellowship.
