Teaching Associate (TA) for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

Position Overview: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry seeks graduate students as Teaching Associate applicants. Teaching Associates typically are responsible for providing laboratory instruction for general education courses.
- The department is seeking TA applicants for sections of CHEM 1A lab and CHEM 3A lab.
- TAs will teach sections of CHEM 1A lab or CHEM 3A lab the following semester and could have opportunities to teach other beginning courses in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department.
Anticipated Appointment Dates: Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026; Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
Hours/Units per week: Students can work up to 20-hours per week.
Job Duties may include laboratory or discussion section instruction, creating a conducive learning environment, using Canvas, creating assignments, preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student writing, administering examinations, assessing student performance, supervising discussion groups, assisting students, attending orientation and meetings, completing safety training, and performing other supportive assignments.
Qualifications: Admission to and concurrent enrollment in the Fresno State Chemistry Master’s Program; enrollment in at least 6-units; demonstrated progress towards the degree; ability to relate well with others; demonstrated commitment to diversity; ability to communicate effectively in English.
