26-27 AY Teaching Associate (TA) - Music

Position Overview

The School of Music seeks graduate students as Teaching Associate applicants. Teaching Associates typically are responsible for providing classroom instruction.

• The department is seeking TA applicants for sections of Music 31-39, Music 31E-39E, Music 31J-35J, Music 31P-39P (Lower division applied instruction), Music102MW Masterworks Chorus, Music 102PB Basketball Band and Music 117CM Chamber Music Red Wave.
• TAs will teach sections of Music 102PB, Music 117CM Chamber Music Red Wave, and Music 102MW Masterworks Chorus the following semester and could have opportunities to teach other beginning courses in the School of Music.

Anticipated Appointment Dates

• Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
• Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027

Job Duties

Instruct and manage the classroom, create or implement course design, prepare course materials, assess student performance, maintain office hours, and evaluate student work.

Qualifications

• Admission to the Music MA Program in the School of Music, in good academic standing.
• Enrollment in at least 6-units for the semester.
• Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
