This prestigious initiative is designed to attract exceptional scholars across transformative, frontier defining fields: artificial intelligence and related areas, robotics and embedded intelligence, microelectronics, aerospace technology, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, materials science, new energy, and architecture and urban sustainability. Applicants in other areas of strategic importance to the University are also most welcome. By recruiting 90 distinguished academics and rising young leaders, we aim to strengthen interdisciplinary research capacity, accelerate fundamental breakthroughs, and shape the future of global scientific and technological progress.

This initiative will be implemented as part of the University’s well-established Strategic Hiring Scheme. Faculty members recruited through the Strategic Hiring Scheme (SHS) at Chair Professor or Professor level, as well as outstanding young scholars who are appointed under the Presidential Young Scholar Scheme will receive a start-up grant of HKD 5 million or more to support research activities (including the admission of two PhD students, purchase of equipment, hiring of research staff, etc.) in the initial five years, whereas those appointed at Associate Professor or Assistant Professor level through SHS will receive a start-up grant of HKD 3 million or more.
