Funding
A tax-free stipend at the UKRI rate £23,805 p/a, to commence in October 2026. Funding covers 3 years of research plus an additional 6 months for writing-up; 3.5 years in total. Home tuition fees, a conference fund, and a research support and training grant are included.
Imperial PhD students belong to the Early Career Researcher Institute (ECRI), which provides a comprehensive transferable skills programme.
Project and supervisors
The project will develop novel imaging technologies for mapping electrical activities in the heart muscle in vivo using ultrasound and allied technologies., and evaluate the technologies for guiding intervention in arrythmia patients. The student will be working in a multidisciplinary team including engineers, physicists and clinicians (cardiologists), supervised by Prof. Fu Siong Ng, Prof. Mengxing Tang, Dr Johana Tonko and Dr Carlos Cueto.
Entry requirements
This studentship is open to both home and overseas students. International students are required to cover the difference between home and overseas tuition fees. As a minimum, applicants are required to hold, or expect to receive, a first class or a good upper second-class Honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, or a field related to the development and application of healthcare technologies
