A Study on Programmable IoT Network Infrastructure with In-Network, Edge, and Cloud Computing
About the Project
The project proposes a novel IoT network infrastructure that leverages programmable capabilities and an In-network computing approach with existing computing methods (edge and cloud computing). Programmable capabilities allow the network to implement customized functions according to the types and requirements of IoT traffic. In-network computing enables the network to deliver fast response services by performing data processing and analysis at the network level. The proposed infrastructure consists of three main components: (1) an evolved traffic analysis and monitoring scheme that classifies various IoT traffic and monitors the traffic according to the traffic classification, (2) a dynamic traffic management and control scheme that applies adaptive control policies to handle the IoT traffic using comprehensive IoT traffic information and (3) the ability to create a customized network service processed at the network level.
The candidate is expected to demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in computer networking and IoT networks, particularly in layers 3 and 4. Solid programming abilities and research capacity are also required. The position encourages the candidate to pursue the project in alignment with their own research interests. In other words, applicants should be highly self‑motivated and enthusiastic about networking and IoT networks.
