Position description

The Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory (CNLM)'s Office of Outreach and Education invites applications for the full-time in-person position of Academic Coordinator I. The CNLM Office of Outreach and Education is dedicated to fostering public engagement with brain science, broadening participation in neuroscience and training the next generation of neuroscience leaders.

Under the supervision of the CNLM Director of Outreach and Education, Dr. Manuella Oliveira Yassa, the incumbent will be responsible for managing, implementing, and growing several outreach, training, and education programs that the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and private fund. These programs include the CNLM Ambassadors program, the UCI Brain Camp, the Brain Explorer Academy (a Science Education Partnership Award), the Irvine Summer Institute in Neuroscience, and the Center's T32 graduate training program, as well as others. The incumbent will also be responsible for conducting evidence-based research on program efficacy, implement best practices, manage resources and students affiliated with the programs, and work closely with the Director to summarize data, analyze and report outcomes in the form of publications, posters, technical reports, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Manage and advance major programs such as the CNLM Ambassador program, UCI Brain Camp, Brain Explorer Academy, Irvine Summer Institute in Neuroscience, and the Center's T32 graduate training program.
  • Program Development: Assist with the evolution of these programs to better serve our community, increase participation, and achieve strategic outreach objectives
  • Research and Evaluation: Assist with the development and implementation of research studies to assess program impact and effectiveness, implement evidence-based practices, and generate detailed reports including publications, posters, and technical documents.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources effectively, coordinate with students and stakeholders involved in the programs, and ensure efficient use of assets.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collaborate with the Director to analyze data, track outcomes, and communicate findings to various stakeholders.
