of the Department of Biology of the Faculty of Medicine MU - Lumír Krejčí Research Group (full time, with 40 hours per week)
The Department of Biology is a top-tier research and educational facility at the Faculty of Medicine, providing both theoretical and practical instruction in medical biology for Czech and international students. The institute also coordinates the international Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences and serves as a prominent international center for excellence in biomedical research.
Lumír Krejčí Research Group focuses on the mechanisms of homologous recombination and its role in maintaining genome stability, specifically in repairing fatal DNA damage and ensuring accurate replication. Using interdisciplinary methods, they investigate how defects in these processes lead to the development of cancer, infertility, or genetic diseases.
The scope of your work will be:
- Independent research and development activities, including the publication and presentation of research results
- Share in the organizational provision of research and pedagogical activities, incl. related administration
- Participation in theoretical and practical teaching at the workplace
- Preparation of the study and teaching materials
- Membership in commissions for state final examinations
- Participation in the education of students in doctoral study programs
- Supervising undergraduate student theses
Required qualification:
- University degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field obtained abroad.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry
- Relevant publication record (supported by an overview of scientific and publishing activities).
- Proven research experience focusing on genome stability, DNA repair, and DNA replication.
- Experience working on national and international research projects.
- Teaching experience
- Several years of experience with relevant biochemical methods (purification of recombinant proteins, preparation of DNA substrates, enzymatic reactions; experience with phase separation studies is an advantage).
- International work or study experience (minimum of 2 years)
- Ability to actively participate in international conferences and professional seminars.
- Active proficiency in English.
- Excellent command of the Czech language, both written and spoken.
- Experience with scientific data analysis and basic programming skills.
- Proactive approach, initiative, and a willingness for further professional development.
- Integrity and a clean criminal record (moral and civic standing).
