Job Title: Accounting Clerk/Cashier (Cashier's Office)

Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Accounts Receivable, performs a variety of standardized procedures relating to student accounting and accounts receivable. The Accounting Clerk/Cashier is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Summary of Duties; duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Process and Verify Financial Transactions – Handle deposits, receipts, vouchers, check requests, payments, refunds, and international transactions, ensuring accuracy in amounts, budget codes, and required approvals.
- Student Account Management – Process tuition payments, adjustments, financial aid refunds, chargebacks, cooperative agreements, and tuition appeals.
- Third-Party and Partnership Billing – Review, correct, and process documentation for 3rd party billings, cooperative agreements, and college partnerships.
- Data Accuracy and Records Maintenance – Verify and correct addresses, account restrictions, duplicate records, and ensure compliance with records retention and disposal policies.
- Cross-Department Collaboration – Maintain effective working relationships with multiple college departments to audit, input, and process college, employee, and student information.
- Customer Service and Support – Provide professional assistance to students, employees, and external partners by answering inquiries, resolving issues, and guiding them through cashier processes.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking or business-related field required such as cashier's experience.
- High school diploma or GED high school equivalency required. Associate's degree in Business or related preferred.
Please clearly indicate experience (two years full-time equiv.) and education on resume. Two years of relevant business related/cash handling experience required.
Qualifications:
The Accounting Clerk/Cashier must possess computer and data entry skills; good computational/money handling skills, good communication, accounting, interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of basic accounting principles; comply with FERPA Law requirements and application during student contact; comply with the GLB Act requirements for the protection and privacy of financial information; comply with the PCI DSS data security standards for credit card payments and transaction processing; comply with the “FTC Red Flag Rule” requirements to protect against identity theft; the ability to work with a diverse student population and to handle difficult situations; ability to work independently and professionally.

Wednesday – Friday
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
During peak registration and payment cycles the role works additional hours and it may facilitate schedule changes/adjustments to this schedule.
Salary/Wage: $19.54 per hour (plus exceptional benefits)
