Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for part-time Adjunct Instructor/Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Global Studies and Geography at Hofstra University for the Fall 2026 semester.
The Department of Global Studies and Geography offers a wide variety of courses that lead to undergraduate degrees in Global Studies, Geography/GIS, or are part of a concentration in Pre-Health.
The courses to be offered are:
- Eastern Europe and the Republics of the former Soviet Union (GEOG 123) — Monday & Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. – 9:25 a.m.
- The course to be offered covers a study of the environment and peoples of Eastern Europe and the Republics of the former Soviet Union. Emphasis on past territorial changes and recent social, economic and political transitions.
- India and It's Neighbors (GEOG 114) — Monday & Wednesday, 2:40 p.m. – 4:05 p.m.
- Analyzes the geography of South Asia, with a special focus on the geography of India. Emphasis will be on cultural, economic and political geography.
These are undergraduate, introductory-level courses with enrollment capped at 37 students. The courses are in-person only and cannot be taught remotely.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as the instructor of record on a contingent, adjunct basis in the Department of Global Studies and Geography.
Qualifications:
- A master's degree in Geography or a closely related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Geography is preferred.
- Prior US college-level teaching of a similar course is preferred.
