Description
The School of Education is pleased to invite applications for an adjunct faculty position for our Literacy Studies Practicum courses in the Department of Specialized Programs at Hofstra University.
Applicants should have knowledge and experience teaching formative reading and writing evaluations, assessment driven instructional planning that includes literature engagements, collaborative learning and multimodal literacy invitations, and strategy assessments. The position also includes the supervision of our interns in their small group literacy support for readers at our Hofstra Reading/Writing Learning Clinic.
Qualifications
- An earned MSED in Literacy Studies with NY State Literacy Specialist Certification is required
- Initial Certification in ELED or Secondary Education
- Demonstrated record of working with graduate students in a Literacy Studies Program
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusive in an educational environment, and assessment driven instructional planning that includes literature engagements, collaborative learning and multimodal literacy invitations, and strategy assessments.
Preferred Quals Summary
Preferred qualifications include K-12 public school teaching, and literacy support.
