Description
The Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for a full-time adjunct professor in the Department of Religion at Hofstra University. The Department of Religion welcomes applications in Islamic religion, history, and culture.
The Department of Religion at Hofstra University enhances students’ pursuit of professional goals as they gain understanding of religion; recognize the multiple impacts that religion exerts upon public life and people’s experience; and learn to communicate between different worldviews, navigate conflict, and deepen inclusion. The Department offers a B.A. in Religion and Contemporary Issues and a B.A. in Jewish Studies.
The full-time adjunct professor’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching courses in their areas of specialty
- Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students.
Qualifications
- An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Religion or in a field encompassing the study of religion at the time of appointment.
- Experience teaching about religion in one or more disciplines.
