Adjunct Instructor - Nurse Aide & Patient Care Technician

Job Summary: ***Adjuncts in this position work on LCC's Downtown Lansing campus or at clinical/externship sites. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled. Adjunct (part-time) faculty in this position teach all course components of Nurse Aide and Patient Care Technician training including: didactic (theory), lab, and clinical/externship formats. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments will be primarily on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of off-campus sites and/or online assignments. An on-campus presence and traditional in-person teaching is required. Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with senior department faculty, department coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi and professional/industry standards. Duties include planning & preparation of course materials, delivery of instruction to students, assessment and grading, and assisting students outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as needed. Adjunct faculty in this position must be qualified to teach in one or more of the following courses and subject areas:

  • Long-Term Care Nurse Aide (CHSE 108)
  • Patient Care Technician (CHSE 151)

Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree (or higher) in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university. Current unencumbered State of Michigan Nursing (RN) License; license must be maintained throughout the duration of employment. Current State of Michigan Nurse Aide Trainer Permit; must be maintained throughout the duration of employment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. IMPORTANT: If an educational degree is required for this position, unofficial copies of transcripts from each institution of higher learning where either a degree has been conferred or coursework completed are required documents that must be submitted as part of the online application process. Applicants with foreign education credentials (i.e. earned degree and related to this position) must contact a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) credential evaluation services (www.naces.org) and request an academic transcript evaluation. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Nursing, Education, Leadership, or related health discipline from a regionally accredited college or university. Teaching experience at the high school or community college level. Course management system (D2L, Canvas, Blackboard, Angel, etc.) experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including email, electronic calendars, presentation software, etc.
