Adjunct Instructor of Japanese
Position Summary
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for non tenure-track adjunct position in Japanese Studies, to begin January 5, 2026
The duties in this role include:
- Plan and teach content and material according to the JPST 240 Japanese Culture and Society class description and class number of credits (4 credits).
- Formally evaluate students at least 4 times per semester.
- Provide timely feedback to and interact with students to promote the acquisition of class content.
- Communicate and report to WLC Chairperson and to NCC Registrar’s Office as needed.
Basic Qualifications
The successful candidate will have completed a Masters Degree or above in the field related to the class content. The qualified individual should have at least: A Masters degree in the field related to the class content; Pedagogical experience teaching the class content or related topics; Pedagogical experience and/or training in the modality of the course (i.e. in-person/hybrid/online). Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, as well as ongoing scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with teaching Japanese or Japanese Studies topics that add to the current departmental offerings; Demonstrated excellence in both teaching, training in pedagogical methods, and research.
