Adjunct Instructor of Philosophy
Job Summary/Description
ASU is developing a pool of potential adjunct faculty to teach introductory Philosophy courses. This posting is for temporary, as‑needed appointments to teach PHIL 1301: Introduction to Philosophy, PHIL 2305: Critical Reasoning and Logic, and PHIL 2306: Ethics. Our most frequent instructional needs at this time are for PHIL 2305 and PHIL 2306.
The purpose of this posting is to create a qualified applicant pool for future teaching opportunities within the department. Currently, most course needs are for sections offered in an online, asynchronous, 8‑week format.
Typical Duties/Job Duties
Primary Duties Include:
- Preparing the course syllabus and all instructional materials
- Delivering lectures and facilitating class discussions
- Evaluating student work and providing timely feedback
- Assigning and submitting final grades
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge sufficient to effectively teach the assigned course(s) and/or lab(s).
- Ability to prepare instructional materials and deliver clear, engaging, and effective presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or other evidence of professional qualifications in the subject area listed required.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred.
