About Us

Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell.

Job Summary
This is an administrative position that performs administrative work at the Welcome Desk and Original Document Reading Area (ODRA) of the Georgia Archives. The position is 40 hours per week Tuesday to Saturday.
Responsibilities
- Welcome, direct, and register patrons.
- Explain policies and procedures to patrons.
- Answer phone.
- Processes payments using cash register and credit card machine.
- Maintain assigned computerized databases.
- Retrieve, compile, distribute, and refile records.
- Arrange and rehouse records.
- Assist with monitoring use of original records by patrons.
- Scan and digitally enhance records.
- Provide administrative support as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- One or more years of related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Passage of three or more classes in American History and/or Archives.

Completion of Georgia Archives Institute or similar.
Proposed Salary
$28,679.22

- Knowledge of basic Excel.
- Knowledge of the operation of cash register and credit card machine.
- Knowledge of the purpose and duties of a state archives.

- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to effectively multi-task.
- Ability to operate a computer with multiple screens.
- Ability to climb ladders and pull records from overhead.
