Admissions Adviser

We are looking for a motivated, detail-focused, and customer-oriented Admissions Adviser to join our supportive and collaborative Admissions team.
This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping students from New Zealand and around the world begin their journey at the University of Auckland. You’ll work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, assessing applications, providing expert admissions advice, and supporting students through complex admission and credit processes.
As an Admissions Adviser, you will use your strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and commitment to excellent service to assess applications accurately and efficiently while delivering a positive experience for applicants and stakeholders alike.
We are looking for individuals with the following attributes and experience:
- Experience with interviewing applicants
- Proficient in Excel, Teams and Zoom
- Reliable and dependable, as interviews will be pre-booked and must be conducted as scheduled
- Excellent communication and professional presentation
- Critical thinking and sound judgement, particularly in relation to risk assessment and confidentiality
- A background in teaching, social work or an understanding of the Children’s Act would be an advantage
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing applications for admission in accordance with University regulations and admission criteria
- Determining admissibility and assessing transferability of credit for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants
- Supporting students completing conditions, with a specific focus on Safety Check compliance
- Completing safety check interviews
- Providing accurate and timely advice to applicants, students, agents, and University staff regarding admission requirements, qualifications, and university policies
- Managing applications through the student management system while meeting agreed service standards and timeframes
- Supporting applicants by identifying pathways and alternative options where appropriate
- Liaising with faculties and stakeholders regarding application assessments and admissions processes
- Maintaining accurate admissions records and contributing to the integrity of student data
- Contributing to process improvements, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centred team environment
This can either be a full-time, 37.5 hours per week role or can be split into two roles working 18.75 hours per week, depending on the candidate's preference. This is a fixed term contract for 8 months, until the end of February 2027.
The salary range for this role is from $63,600 – $68,100 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
