The Adult Education Career and Workforce Advisor reports to the Waubonsee Works Program Manager and serves as an integral member of the Adult and Workforce Education division, supporting the alignment of academic instruction, career pathways, and workforce readiness.
Responsibilities
- Case management of designated caseload of Waubonsee Works program participants and maintain accurate, detailed case notes per WIOA guidelines.
- Search and recruit employers and Waubonsee departments willing to provide appropriate paid work experiences for participants enrolled in the Waubonsee Works Program.
- Maintain positive relationships with program participants, employers, and Waubonsee departments to resolve conflicts or issues encountered.
- Assist in planning, execution, and facilitation of training workshops.
- Advise program participants on personal, academic, and career-related topics and appropriately document these activities in the Illinois Workforce Development System (IWDS).
- Assist in the placement of program participants into employment.
- Compile data and complete reports as required by the college and funding sources.
- Provide program participants access to computerized employment networks, career centers and/or workshops.
- Develop relationships with public and private sector employers for the purpose of securing employment leads and data for program participants.
- Attend workshops and meetings as directed by the Dean for Adult Education and Waubonsee Works Program Manager.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Human Services or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in counseling, advising, social services, case management, or adult education required, WIOA grant experience preferred.
- Two years of experience developing and maintaining relationships with employers.
- Experience with disadvantaged adults including women, minorities, immigrants, economically disadvantaged and youth.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work independently, cooperatively and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications required.
- Job development experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented and good with follow-up.
