Advanced Practice Nurse Family Nurse Practitioner

The Ellmer School of Nursing at Old Dominion University invites qualified advanced practice registered nurses with certification as a family nurse practitioner to apply for a full-time, 12-month, open rank faculty position in our graduate nursing program to start June 10, 2026. We are building a diverse faculty and searching for a faculty member who will share and contribute to our mission to transform healthcare by:

Faculty responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction in our advanced practice graduate nursing programs and mentor graduate nursing students. Courses are offered year-round. Participation in scholarship will round out the faculty member’s workload.

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications

1. Earned DNP, PhD, or other terminal degree.
2. Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
3. Eligible for licensure in state of Virginia.
4. Two years of clinical experience as an FNP.

Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities

Recent clinical experience as Family Nurse Practitioner

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in graduate nursing program.
• Familiarity with online/web-enhanced teaching strategies.
• Completion of didactic course work or certification in nursing education is a plus.
