Advanced Practice Professional (NP) Cardiovascular Center (MWE - Cardiac Electrophysiology)

Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered.

A total of one (1), 0.75 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.
Provides specialized cardiac care to adult patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology settings in collaboration with EP cardiology faculty and fellows. Assess, diagnose, and manage care for adult electrophysiology patients, including performing comprehensive evaluations with detailed histories, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans, including appropriate interventions and referrals, while ensuring accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient care and progress. Provides patient and family education and develops educational programs to support understanding and engagement in care. Delivers educational sessions such as workshops, lectures, and in-service trainings, and serves as a preceptor for new APP staff, as well as physician assistant and/or nurse practitioner students. Coordinates complex patient care needs, ensuring safe and effective handoffs across the care team. Collaborates in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards of care, and participates in research and quality improvement initiatives to advance clinical practice and patient outcomes.
NP:
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
PA:
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
- Current DEA registration required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required

- A minimum of 1 year APP experience (within the last 5 years) with adult cardiac electrophysiology patients
- A minimum of 1 year APP experience (within the last 5 years) in adult cardiology, including arrhythmias, CIEDs, syncope, heart failure, and/or coronary syndromes
- A minimum of 3 years APP experience in inpatient and/or outpatient adult cardiology
- A minimum of 1 year recent experience performing device interrogations (pacemaker, ICD, CRT, ILR)
- APP experience interpreting ECGs and reviewing cardiac diagnostics (cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, nuclear studies, rhythm monitoring such as Holter, ZIO, telemetry)
- Cardiology-related certification (e.g., CCKE, IBHRE, HF-Cert)
- Strong knowledge of adult cardiac physiology
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize, and effectively perform comprehensive histories and physical exams; order and interpret diagnostic studies; synthesize findings; and develop/adjust evidence-based care plans in both ambulatory care and inpatient settings
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and independent decision-making skills
- Ability to anticipate and manage complex patient care needs
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EHR, including patient status, evaluations, and treatments to support communication across physicians, APPs, and the Electrophysiology Program
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate clinical issues to all members of the care team in written and/or verbal communication
