Advanced Practice Provider, Behavioral Health (APRN/PA)

Position Description

Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.

Major/Essential Functions

• Provide inpatient care to a diverse patient population in accordance with department and clinical policies;
• Obtain detailed patient history and perform physical examinations on patients in the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center;
• Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with the relevant health needs of the patient;
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments;
• Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures;
• Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records;
• Effectively communicate with physicians, residents, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care;
• Contributes to continuous improvement by meeting quality standards and patient experience metrics.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approved certification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. Current R.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Board of Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
