Coastal Carolina University seeks applications for the time-limited position of Advising Specialist for University Advising.
Advising Specialists are responsible for the planning and delivery of academic advising programs and services. Responsible for maintaining regular contact with students to provide accurate, timely information on academic majors, University policies and regulations, and support services available to students.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide students with information focused on meeting developmental academic needs, including transition to the college environment, exploration of various major fields of study, career options, available resources, and university policies.
- Assist students with the course planning and registration process; keep accurate records of student advising contacts and progress toward a degree.
- Process student requests and forms in a timely manner; audit student records each semester to ensure appropriate course selection and progress; provide final audits for graduating seniors.
- Engage in departmental committees and professional development.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree; Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work well as a team member. Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision.
Preferred: Two (2) years higher education or teaching experience.
