Offer Description
A call for applications, based on qualifications and examinations, is hereby announced for admission to the joint three-year AFAM PhD Program: Mediascape. Transcultural Artistic Research and Productions - Artistic Practices and Art History, based at the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo.
The program examines artistic production and mediation within the global mediascape through a transcultural approach. Bridging theory and practice, it fosters dialogue between artists and art historians on visual culture, anthropology, image theories, and cognitive sciences.
The curriculum offers theoretical lectures, practical workshops (artistic techniques, specialized English, intellectual property), and access to the Academy's facilities. It includes research periods abroad and traineeships in sector-related institutions (6–18 months; 8–12 months for PR FSE+ scholarships)—such as museums, galleries, and agencies—ensuring direct engagement with the professional world.
