Affiliated (Part-Time) Faculty Sports Communication Communication Studies
The Department of Communication Studies offers majors in Communication Studies, Political Communication, Sports Communication and Public Relations. We are seeking a part-time faculty member to teach two sections of Sports Communication, the entry-level course required of all Sports Communication majors for the Fall 2026 semester, September 2 - December 17, 2026.
The courses meet Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11:45 AM and 12:00-1:45 PM.
CC235 Sports Communication
This course explores the dynamic organizations and diverse professions reflective of the sports communication field while emphasizing the media-based aspects of the field, including journalism, broadcasting, digital and social media, marketing, strategic communication, and public relations. This course is designed to give students a broad overview of the sports communication field and expand their understanding of both the field and careers in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Teach assigned courses and/or duties as specified in the schedule and contract
- Select texts and instructional materials; prepare course materials and lesson plans
- Provide students an approved syllabus that includes course description, learning objectives, course calendar, course requirements, texts, and other materials, grading policy and the required accessibility and plagiarism statements
- Be available for student consultation through office hours or scheduled appointments or by phone or email
- Maintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, submit class rosters and grades online by the deadlines established by the College
Master's degree and college-level teaching experience required. Please submit a cover letter, CV, and course evaluations.
