Required Related Experience: No experience required.
Required License/Registration/Certification: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) certification or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C). Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 90 days of hire.
Physical Requirements: The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting, standing, walking, with some pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs.
Shift: 12-hour clinical shifts scheduled according to department needs; including weekdays, weekends, nights, and holidays (based on clinical schedule/needs). Weekends, nights, and holidays are on a rotating schedule among the team. No call
Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider Neonatal ICU functions within the NICU and throughout the KCH service line and is an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The APP functions primarily in the inpatient ICU setting managing the care of acute and chronically ill neonates. The APP is generally on a service-aligned team and manages the day-to-day patient care from ICU to step down to discharge. In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow-up in the outpatient setting. The APP may also play a role in the admission process including deliveries. The APP has a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and education and has a responsibility to ensure an environment of safe quality care. The APP demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.

Our Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. The neonatal APP functions as a member of the NICU medical management team, under the supervision of Neonatology attending physicians.
Key Functions
- High-risk deliveries and perform resuscitation
- Neonatal procedures
- Round with a multi-disciplinary team
- Develop daily plan of care, prescribe diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions
- Manage pre/post-operative care
- Collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Communicate with patient/family/staff to promote continuity of care
- Assist with education of residents/students

Compensation: Night shift differential, Annual incentive bonus eligible, Annual salary market adjustment eligible, Annual CEU allotment, Premium pay opportunity for overtime, 200% retirement match.
