APRN/PA - Instr. I - Cardiology
Responsibilities
CLINICAL - 95%
Evaluates patients with suspected or confirmed cardiology diagnoses through diagnostic testing and history taking, including those referred from Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or other specialties. Triages inpatient consultations and patient phone calls, renews prescriptions, coordinates care, and manages post-procedure concerns. Assesses patients with rhythm disorders or cardiac devices and provides pre- and post-procedure education for pacemaker, ICD, ablation, WATCHMAN implant, and electrophysiology procedures in outpatient settings. Performs comprehensive History and Physical Exams and independently manages electrophysiology clinic patients under general supervision. Initiates, monitors, and adjusts anti-arrhythmic therapies, orders tests, and prescribes medications, regularly consulting with faculty electrophysiologists on treatment plans and abnormal findings. Addresses inquiries via the medical record and documents all orders, procedures, progress notes, and device interrogations, including holter and event monitor tracings.
ADMINISTRATIVE - 5%
Support and arrange patient care with the referring provider, handle outpatient follow-ups, and make recommendations based on findings. Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, results, and next steps. Respond to patient and staff questions through the medical record system. Record all orders, procedures, and progress notes in the patient's electronic medical record. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.
Additional Minimum:
This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
MUST BE BOARD CERTIFIED/ELIGIBLE IN: Family Practice or Adult Gerontology Acute Care
