Art, Drawing and Printmaking - Full-Time, Temporary, Non-Tenure Track Visiting Assistant Professor
Position Summary
The Department of Art at The University of Central Oklahoma, a NASAD-accredited department, is inviting applications for a full-time, one-year, temporary Assistant Professor position in Drawing and Printmaking beginning August 2026. The Department seeks a candidate with a strong studio and teaching emphasis in drawing and printmaking with a contemporary fine arts approach.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach three studio courses per semester with a focus on upper-level drawing courses, Intro to Printmaking and Intaglio, as well as possible courses in Drawing I, Figure Drawing, or Color (dependent on enrollment). Create a studio environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, and critical thinking and develop curriculum that is designed to introduce a variety of techniques, materials, and processes. Foster an innovative and welcoming studio environment. Participate in student recruitment in collaboration with the art chair and faculty. Additional responsibilities are expected in department, college, and university service.
Required Qualifications
- MFA in studio arts with an emphasis in advanced drawing and printmaking
- Minimum of two years full-time college-level teaching experience
- Strong knowledge of contemporary and historical issues in drawing and printmaking
- Demonstrate professional studio practice with an active exhibition and scholarly record
