Job Description

Tarleton State University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Clinical-Track of Physical Therapy in the College of Health & Clinical Professions. This is a 12-month faculty appointment based on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, TX.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Prior to Student Matriculation):

  • Contribute to the overall development, implementation, assessment, and success of the DPT program.
  • Demonstrate excellence and innovation in teaching and mentoring doctoral healthcare students.
  • Provide high-quality course instruction.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Attend professional development opportunities.
  • Serve on program committees.
  • Adhere to the Core Values and Ethics of the Physical Therapy Profession.
  • Take an active role in accreditation-related tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Upon Student Matriculation):

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings.
  • Develop course syllabi and assessments.
  • Assess student performance and provide feedback.
  • Engage students in active learning.
  • Provide academic support and mentoring.
  • Adhere to university policies and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues.
  • Participate in institutional service roles.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Earned doctoral degree in Physical Therapy or terminal academic doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Unrestricted license (or eligibility) as a Physical Therapist in Texas.
  • 3 years of clinical experience (exceptions for outstanding academic or clinical achievement).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience for a CAPTE-accredited program.
  • Terminal academic degree or enrollment in post-professional degree program.
  • Board certification in Orthopedics, Neurology, or Cardiovascular and Pulmonary.
  • Experience in presentations or publications.
  • Active engagement in the physical therapy profession.
