Position title: Colorectal Surgery Faculty Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $300,000 - $375,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Department of Surgery, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/divisions/colorectal/index.html), is committed to academic excellence among its faculty, staff, and student body. The Division is seeking to recruit academic colon and rectal surgeons who are committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarly activity.
Selected candidates will provide comprehensive clinical care, teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, and develop a research portfolio that aligns with divisional and institutional priorities.
These positions require flexibility to practice across UC San Diego Health clinical sites and to participate in call coverage in accordance with divisional and departmental responsibilities.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at time of application)- Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree.
- Candidates must be board certified in General Surgery.
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have completed an ACGME-accredited colorectal fellowship training program.
- Candidates must have, or be eligible for, a California medical license or equivalent certification as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Preferred qualifications
- Candidates with robotic and endoscopic training are preferred.
- Candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship of trainees are preferred.
- Candidates with an established or emerging academic research program are preferred.
