About the Department

The Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, a Health Coaching Certificate, a fully accredited Coordinated Program at the master’s level, an MS/ DPD, an MS in Health Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition, a PhD in Health Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition, and a PhD in Chemistry with a concentration in Nutritional Sciences. The Department includes 10 full-time faculty and several part-time faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative and productive research environment.

Position Description

The Department of Nutrition invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to:

Develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
Mentor graduate students
Contribute to departmental, college, university, and professional service

Required Experience

For Associate Professor rank: At least 7 years of prior academic experience with a strong record of research productivity, including publications in top-tier journals and successful grantsmanship.

Required Education

Earned doctorate in Nutrition or a related discipline with an emphasis on human health.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Evidence of research productivity in areas such as chronic disease prevention/treatment, lifecycle nutrition, international nutrition, community nutrition, informatics, public health, or sports nutrition
Experience teaching nutrition-related courses at the college level
Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
Experience working with accredited programs in nutrition and dietetics
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential with eligibility for licensure in Georgia

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in diverse instructional methods
Excellent organizational and technological skills
Attention to detail and demonstrated expertise in instructional technology
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
