Assistant/Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Description
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine, in tandem with the Mature Women’s Health Division at Sinai Health System, are seeking applicants for the inaugural G. Raymond Chang Professorship in Mature Women’s Health.
The successful candidate will be resourced to hold an academic position description of Clinician Scientist and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at University of Toronto.
The initial term of the Professorship position will be 5 years with the opportunity for one additional 5-year renewal, following a successful review.
Applications will be accepted until September 15, 2026, or until filled. The proposed position start date is November 1, 2026, or a mutually agreed upon date.
Position Responsibilities
The G. Raymond Chang Professor in Mature Women’s Health will:
- Develop and lead research in mature women’s health, focusing on perimenopause and/or menopause
- Provide mentorship, clinical training, and foster trainee research
- Provide active national and international leadership to advance research strategies addressing health concerns of mature women
- Integrate, build, and strengthen the existing team’s efforts
- Champion collaborative and integrative research between:
- The Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Toronto
- The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Toronto
- The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Mount Sinai Hospital
- Other TAHSN partners
The Professorship holder will also collaborate with Temerty Faculty of Medicine to:
- Modernize and expand curriculum at the undergraduate level
- Enhance postgraduate curriculum for OBGYN and Family and Community Medicine residents
- Contribute to curriculum development, clinical training, and research mentorship for fellows in Mature Women’s Health
At the community level, the Professorship holder will:
- Work to create a City-Wide Mature Women’s Health Consortium
- Explore the establishment of a publicly accessible evidence-informed virtual care platform for Mature Women’s Health
Qualifications
Applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds, with an international reputation in their field, are encouraged.
The Department welcomes Obstetric and Gynaecologic applicants working in any research domain directly relevant to mature women’s health, including:
- Basic molecular mechanisms
- Population health
- Quality improvement
- Educational excellence
The successful candidate must:
- Hold an MD or equivalent
- Have specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Demonstrate significant expertise in mature women’s health research
- Hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario
- Hold certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent qualifications
The candidate’s excellence in scholarly achievement should be evidenced by:
- International collaborations
- Peer-reviewed publications in leading journals
- A strong track record of collaborative science, productivity, excellence, and leadership
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate comfort and/or interest in leveraging artificial intelligence and virtual health options to empower healthcare practitioners to provide more robust care.
Compensation and Support
The remuneration from the Professorship endowment fund will be $120,000 per annum to support:
- Two days of protected time per week
- Research activities
- City-wide leadership
- Other scholarly activities
In addition to salary support, further support will be provided by Sinai Health System in terms of:
- Secretarial support
- Nursing support
- Statistical support
The incumbent will be based at Mount Sinai Hospital and is expected to become a member of the Sinai Health academic practice plan and will be entitled to additional support commensurate with academic and clinical activities.
