Offer Description
Scope of research work:
- Assessment of the production and economic outcomes, as well as the environmental impact, of farms with varying levels of intensity and specialisations, with particular emphasis on farms operating within the framework of the national agricultural support system and the instruments of the Common Agricultural Policy.
- Determining the production, economic and environmental consequences of specialisation and concentration of production, and assessing the effects of changes to the farm support system in Poland.
- To assess the environmental impact of various agricultural production systems and analyse the possibilities for supporting them through Common Agricultural Policy instruments, including environmental and climate-related measures.
- Assessment of the outcomes and proposals for changes to the Common Agricultural Policy, in particular regarding direct payments, eco-schemes, sectoral interventions, agri-environment- e measures and rural development support instruments.
- Identifying issues related to the process of change in agriculture and the implementation of strategies under the CAP, including an analysis of the impacts of implementing the Strategic Plan for the CAP, the Rural Development Programme (RDP) and national support mechanisms for agricultural holdings.
- Preparing opinions, analyses, expert reports, position papers and information materials concerning the Common Agricultural Policy, the subsidy system and initiatives proposed by external entities, for the purposes of cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
- Participation in meetings, consultations, national conferences and expert work concerning the Common Agricultural Policy, agricultural economics and the national context for the development of agricultural holdings.
- Participation in the implementation of current and future research projects carried out at the Department of Agroecology and Agricultural Economics.
- Participation in the implementation of tasks under a specific grant from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, including the preparation of analytical materials, opinions and responses concerning issues related to the CAP, the Rural Development Programme (RDP)/Strategic Plan for the CAP and the payment scheme for farmers.

Skills/Qualifications
- A Master’s degree or a PhD.
- At least two years’ experience in scientific research, analysis, expert work or professional work thematically related to the field of research, in particular in the areas of agricultural economics, agricultural policy, the Common Agricultural Policy, the Rural Development Programme (RDP)/Strategic Plan for the CAP, agricultural consultancy, public administration, the evaluation of support instruments, or the preparation of analyses and opinions concerning agriculture.
- Authorship or co-authorship of popular science or academic publications, expert reports, analyses, opinions or information materials relating to agriculture, agricultural policy, agricultural economics, the subsidy system or the Common Agricultural Policy (at least 3 studies) and the presentation of research findings or analyses at scientific conferences or workshops (at least 1 paper or poster).
- The ability to analyse data, strategic documents and legal acts relating to agriculture, to draw conclusions and to prepare concise recommendations for practice, public administration and agricultural policy.
- The ability to work in a team, good communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with representatives of public administration, advisory bodies, agricultural organisations and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
- Proven proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Very good command of Polish, both spoken and written, enabling the independent preparation of opinions, expert reports, correspondence and information materials for the purposes of cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as well as participation in national conferences and consultations concerning the CAP.
- Proficiency in using computer hardware and knowledge of basic office software
Specific Requirements
Mandatory requirements:
- A Master’s degree or a PhD in agricultural sciences, biological sciences or related fields.
- Willingness to undertake research topics justified by the Institute’s needs.
- At least two years’ experience in scientific and research work, or in professional work thematically related to the field of research (e.g. postgraduate or doctoral studies, research internships, participation in research teams).
- Achievements in previous work, including authorship or co-authorship of popular science and academic publications (at least 3 publications) and the presentation of research findings at scientific conferences or workshops (presentation, poster).
- A aptitude for academic work (e.g. a willingness to seek new solutions in agriculture through experimentation and to compare these with the literature, participation in research projects, and the presentation of research findings at academic conferences and workshops).
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Proven proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to use computer hardware and knowledge of basic office software.
Additional skills useful for the role:
- An overseas research placement and/or participation in an international research project.
- Experience in preparing opinions, expert reports, analyses, reports, position papers or information materials for public administration, advisory bodies, research institutions, agricultural organisations or entities operating in the agricultural sector.
- Knowledge of the Common Agricultural Policy, the Rural Development Programme, the CAP Strategic Plan, the direct payment scheme, eco-schemes, agri-environment-climate measures, and the principles governing the national system of subsidies for farmers.
- Knowledge of the national context in which agriculture operates, including farm structure, main areas of production, the economic challenges facing farms, and the role of institutions involved in implementing agricultural policy in Poland.
- The ability to carry out statistical data analysis and use statistical software.
- Knowledge of academic literature in the fields of agronomy and agricultural environmental protection.
- Teaching skills (e.g. delivering training sessions and classes to students)
- Ability to write concise expert and popular science texts in Polish, including short opinions, notes, position statements, replies to correspondence, and materials for meetings and consultations.
- Category B driving licence.

- Remuneration for an employee in the post of assistant:The basic salary ranges from 105% to 220% of the applicable minimum wage.
