Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator in the Athletics department. The candidate would be expected to oversee the recruitment process and be directly responsible for the hitters or the pitcher staff. The hitting position candidate would be expected to coordinate a hitting program that would include but would not be limited to developing, implementing and recommending game day modifications as well as game planning; conduct a year-round training program for hitters; coach a designated defensive position. The pitching position candidate would be expected to: coach and lead pitching staff. Develop, implement and enhance daily training programs for pitchers; utilize available technologies for player development. Also, the candidate will work in conjunction with training staff to oversee strength and conditioning as well as arm care. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the recruiting coordinator and oversee the entire recruitment process including but not limited to evaluating potential student-athletes, coordinating on and off campus visits of potential student-athletes. Responsible for maintaining telephone and recruiting logs as per NCAA.
- Alumni events including The Alumni Game, First Pitch Dinner, and other annual social gatherings.
- Compliance, including, but not limited to, completing weekly practice/game day logs as per NCAA policy, documenting practice activity time sheets, obtaining verification from student-athlete, and submitting to the compliance office.
- Direct and lead summer camps and winter clinics.
- Conduct scouting of team opponents and preparing scouting report.
- Directly responsible for forming/continuing to build membership in the Young Hawks Diamond Club - a youth fan club.
- Help Head Coach with selecting, ordering, and inventory of equipment for student-athlete and team use.
- Help Head Coach with team travel and meal arrangements.
- Directly responsible for the hitters or the pitching staff.
- Responsible for adhering to policies and procedures governing the Department of Athletics and the University and any applicable rules and regulations associated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) or any other conference or organization with which the University is or becomes associated with which affects University Athletics.
- With Head Coach, organize, plan and direct all practice and game day activities.
- Attend meetings, provide baseball information as necessary for annual fund drive.
- Represent University and baseball program at professional meetings, alumni events as well as other meetings/functions as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three years of college baseball coaching or professional baseball playing experience.
- On-campus and off-campus NCAA recruiting experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel.
- CPR and NCAA recruiting certification must be attained within six months from date of hire.
- A valid driver's license in your state of residence and have had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past three (3) years.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Must have an understanding of the University's concern for academics as well as athletic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Division I level playing and/or coaching experience.
- Use of ARMS software, Synergy, Trackman, and 643.
