Assistant Dean of Student Success (Student Services Leader)

Job Summary

The Assistant Dean for Student Success is a 12-month position, with primary responsibility for planning, organizing, managing, and evaluating programs and activities that promote and support student success across all IUSSW programs and campuses in the areas of recruitment, admissions, advising, and career services.

Department Specific Responsibilities

• Reports directly to the Dean of the IU School of Social Work.
• Works collaboratively with senior leadership within the school, and supervises relevant IUSSW area-specific directors (recruitment, admissions, and career services).
• Coordinates and supervises the school's recruitment, admissions, orientation, academic advising, and career services initiatives.
• Provides leadership in the articulation of issues and the development of policies affecting students, student learning, and academic standing (e.g., probation, dismissal, reinstatement, etc.)
• Works with students on an individual basis to address issues that affect their academic success.
• Oversees the school's academic misconduct policies and procedures.
• Articulates issues for consideration at the school and campus levels so that the campus can make improvements.
• Supports faculty, departments, and programs in issues affecting student learning, including recruitment, retention, advising, developing culturally responsive and inclusive curricula, career services, and co-curricular activities.
• Oversees and manages the IUSSW scholarship program.
• Identifies issues and developing policies that affect student recruitment, success, and retention.
• Works with leadership across campuses to facilitate campus-specific initiatives such as study abroad, undergraduate research, service, and experiential learning.
• Represents the School of Social Work and its students' interests through service on campus and university-level committees.
• Works with faculty and program directors on an individual basis related to student issues in the classroom.
• Coordinates and manages the Student Awards Program and assist with planning and coordinating campus-level commencement recognition ceremonies.
