Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Auxiliary and Business Services provides total financial management of essential goods and services to ECSU students, faculty, staff and other clientele. This unit meets the needs through the self-supported operations, servicing individuals and supporting the institution’s mission. Auxiliary and Business Services consists of Auxiliary Administration, Venue Reservations, Book Store, Food Service, Mail Room, One Card, Ticket Office, Royalties Management, and Property Rental.
Description of Work
The Business Officer II serves as Assistant Director of Auxiliary & Business Services and will lead and manage all aspects that fall within Business Services and other areas as assigned. This position is responsible for the daily operations and management of business, financial, and compliance affairs for Venue Reservations, Property Rental, Ticket Office and other Business Services units. This includes advising, consulting, and assisting all areas with policies, procedures, and enhancements relating to financial matters or human resources within the department. Responsibilities to assist with the overall quality and efficiency of the services and administrative activities of the department, especially as they relate to contract administration, marketing, access control, and operations. Serves as the back-up for the Director of Auxiliary and Business Services as needed. Performs other duties and tasks as required for the smooth operation of the Auxiliary and Business Services.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Possess knowledge of accounting, budget and business practices. Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable accounting and budgeting practices in order to contribute to budget development and/or capital expense proposals.
Ability to manage and improve business processes and operations by ensuring continuity, integration of policies and procedures with the organization’s mission and strategic plan.
Ability to manage a variety of business functions with dynamic funding sources and/or a variety of functional activities, programs, and/or services with minimal supervision and direction.
Ability to recruit, select, develop, counsel, discipline, and evaluate performance of employees to retain a diverse workforce.
Ability to gather, organize, summarize and analyze data within prescribed timeframes. Ability to analyze business operations and/or financial statements. Able to interpret and/or modify policies and procedures to facilitate and ensure the application of sound business practices.
Ability to participate in the long-and short-term strategic goals and planning.
Ability to communicate information to individuals or groups. Ability to deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience.
Minimum Training and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2 years’ of experience; or a combination of education and experience
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
