Monmouth University is seeking applications for an
Assistant Director of Practicum and Professional Education
in the School of Social Work. The Assistant Director will
provide assistance and support to the Director of Practicum and
Professional Education in the placement of undergraduate and
graduate social work students in internships. In addition, they
will also assist in ensuring high-quality practicum placements and
support professional education program. This position will remain
open until filled.
The School of Social Work is built around the ideals of advancing
human rights and social justice. Ranked as one of the top social
work programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, the
school offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a
graduate Master of Social Work (MSW), both of which are nationally
accredited and nationally recognized. In 2022, the school launched
the Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in Human Rights Leadership to
enable practicing social workers to distinguish themselves as
leaders by championing human rights and acting as agents of change
across local, national and global communities.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote
position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Practicum and Professional Education in
the placement of undergraduate and graduate students for practicum
throughout the academic year.
Assist with the planning, development, coordination, and
evaluation of continuing education workshops, certificate programs,
lectures, and other professional development opportunities.
Develop and maintain a social work alumni network in support of
the practicum.
Explore and implement new workshop models in electronic
delivery and off-campus formats for professional education.
Coordinate program logistics, including registration,
participant communication, room or virtual platform arrangements,
attendance documentation, evaluations, certificates, and presenter
materials.
Recruit and develop retention models for practicum supervisors
through incentive programs, professional education and social
networking media.
Support in the coordination of the International Practicum
Abroad program.
Conduct evaluations and the development of new practicum
sites.
Maintain student placement records.
Maintains inventory of necessary forms and documents for
practicum education.
Participate in various School committees.
Participate in recruitment events for the school both on- and
off-campus.
Represent the Office of Practicum and Professional Education at
university, community, state, and professional meetings and
events.
Collaborate with faculty, program directors, administrators,
and university offices on student support, curriculum,
accreditation, technology, contracts, risk management, and
professional education initiatives.
Help establish office timelines, procedures, communication
plans, and systems for managing practicum and professional
education responsibilities.
Provide oversight and guidance to graduate assistants, student
workers, or other support personnel as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited
school.
- Experience or knowledge in clinical or macro social work.
- Experience in social work education.
- Eligible for social work licensure in New Jersey.
- High level of technology proficiency, including some experience
with web design and social media.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel 2016.
- Serious commitment to developing genuine alumni
relationships.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and human
rights.
- A commitment to excellence in Practicum Education.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as
needed.
- The ability to work evenings as needed.
- A valid driver's license in your state of residence and have
had no serious violations (Type A) within the past five (5) years
and no more than three (3) moving violations (Type B) in the past

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication
skills.
- Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information
appropriately,
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of post-MSW social work experience.
- New Jersey Licensed Social Work (LSW) or Licensed Clinical
Social Worker (LCSW) eligible.
- Experience in higher education or in social work
education.
