Work Hours: Standard College hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be needed to meet the needs of the department.
General Summary: Assists Public Safety Institute Director with the development, implementation, and evaluation of programming for the CCAC Public Safety Institute and related trainings.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of three years of related experience, including recent experience working in the EMS field OR an associate's degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of related experience, including recent experience working in the EMS field.
- Current Pennsylvania EMT or Paramedic Certification, Pennsylvania EMS-Instructor certification or eligibility to obtain; Valid Pennsylvania driver's license, American Heart Associate BLS Instructor and Provider certifications
- Experience as an emergency responder.
- Experience in a regulatory environment and in meeting compliance directives.
- Management, administrative, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to conduct classroom/virtual and skills-based instruction.
Duties:
- Supervises and/or coordinates programs offered by the Public Safety Institute.
- Interfaces with other departments within CCAC as well as outside entities germane to the delivery of public safety training and education to promote the Institute.
- Directs and supervises department staff.
- Collaborates with the director to recruit and recommend appropriate instructors and coordinators of the Institute.
- Assists with the recruitment of students.
- Monitors and coordinates enrollment and support services for students at the Institute.
- Works with appropriate city, county and state personnel to identify and address public safety training needs for Allegheny County and other identified counties.
- Assists with oversight of public safety training and sites to ensure local, regional, and state rules, regulations and guidelines are adhered to.
- Approves certification and re-certification of EMS instructors.
- Identifies, develops and/or coordinates learning sites and partnerships as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
