Assistant Director of Residence Life
The Assistant Director of Residence Life provides leadership and operational oversight for a residential complex of 4-6 residence halls, housing approximately 2,000 students, and serves as a primary advocate for the residential community through visible presence, strong relationships, and clear communication. The Assistant Director supports student learning through residential curriculum implementation, community development initiatives, collaborations with campus partners, and more.
As the Assistant Director of Residence Life, you will:
- Lead and manage a large residential community by fostering an engaging and supportive living-learning environment.
- Recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate professional and student staff to support high-quality residential experiences.
- Support student development through oversight of programming, policy enforcement, and student-of-concern response.
- Collaborate with campus partners and stakeholders to support community success.
- Provide leadership and administrative support to departmental committees and processes.
- Serve in an on-call crisis/emergency response rotation. The Assistant Director is required to be available by cell phone during office hours and assigned on-call periods to support emergency and crisis response.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Three years of residence hall experience required.
- Experience in the following areas is essential:
- Supervision of live-in student staff.
- Participation in professional staff on call duty rotation.
- Development of educational programming for college students.
- Strong administrative skills and knowledge of PC-based applications.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate and work well with others.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office software and e-mail systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, teaching, or equivalent.
- Four years or more full-time Residence Director/Coordinator experience.
- Prior experience with supervision of a graduate residence director or full-time residence director or equivalent.
- Experience developing and implementing training for student and professional staff.
- Demonstrated skills in managing crisis situations.
- Experience leading departmental-wide initiatives or committees.
- Strong administrative, planning, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of contemporary student housing/higher education environment.
