Assistant Director of Sports Performance
The Assistant Director of Sports Performance is responsible for providing education, consultation or guidance, expertise, and training in all modalities of physical performance for all assigned scholar-athletes, intercollegiate teams, and other university stakeholders.
Florida Institute of Technology is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and the Sunshine State Conference (SSC).
Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for education, consultation or guidance, expertise, and training in all modalities of physical performance for all scholar-athletes, intercollegiate teams, and other university stakeholders, including but not limited to the creation, supervision, scheduling, and oversight of all workouts with scholar-athletes of assigned teams in cooperation and approval from the Head Coach of each sport, and providing scholar-athletes with guidance and proper training techniques for strength and power training, speed, and physical conditioning.
- Assist with conducting all sports performance testing and monitoring of scholar-athletes, including maintaining and analyzing key data metrics of each individual and team, and sharing appropriate information with Sports Medicine and coaching staff.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sports Performance on education, resources, and guidance or consultation on recovery components, including nutrition, sleep, and injury reduction techniques and practices for assigned teams and stakeholders.
- Assist with updating the Director of Athletics on best practices in the field, equipment needs, and upgrades recommended to provide scholar-athletes the best possible training experience to improve performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance or Director of Athletics.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience)
- NSCA-CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or CSCCA (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association)
- First Aid/ CPR
- Minimum 1–5 years of experience required in area of expertise
