The Rector of Medical University of Gdańsk announces an open competition for the position of
ASSISTANT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ONCOLOGICAL SURGERY CLINIC (f/m)
group of teaching employees
full-time employee
fixed-term employment
THE TASKS OF A PERSON EMPLOYED AT THIS POSITION WILL INCLUDE:
- conducting and documenting teaching activities, mainly of a practical nature (exercises, laboratories, practical classes),
- participating in organizational work for the benefit of the University and the unit,
- improving teaching or professional qualifications, including improving English skills and completing a course in the methodology of academic didactics, and through documented participation in training courses and conferences,
- publication and conference activity of a teaching or popularizing nature (including popular science articles, review articles and the like).
CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO:
- have at least a master's degree or equivalent,
- have an aptitude for research and teaching.
JOB POSITION REQUIREMENTS IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT:
- completion of higher education in the field of medical sciences,
- knowledge in the field of general surgery or surgical oncology,
- clinical experience in the surgical treatment of cancer patients is preferred,
- fluency in English, at least at the B2 level,
- proficiency in Polish to the extent that allows conducting classes with students.
EXPECTED CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- documented experience of teaching at a university or other educational institution or documented experience of research work or documented experience of work related to employment prospects.

COMPETITION PROCEDURE:
- The competition is open to persons who meet the requirements of Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws 2024.1571; Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as subsequently amended), hereinafter referred to as: ‘the Act’, namely:
- hold the qualifications specified in the Act and the Statutes of the Medical University of Gdańsk of 3 June 2019 (i.e. Annex No. 1 to Resolution No. 69/2023 of the Senate of the Medical University of Gdańsk of 27 November 2023),
- have not been subject to a disciplinary penalty as referred to in Article 276(1)(7) and (8) of the Act,
- meet the requirements referred to in Article 20(1)(1)–(3) of the Act,
- declare that, should they be selected for employment as a result of this competition, the Medical University of Gdańsk will be their primary place of work within the meaning of the Act.
- Candidates wishing to take part in the competition are requested to submit their applications (including all required documents) via the ‘APPLY’ button on the website.
- All documents must be submitted in Polish or English.
- The deadline for submitting applications is 23:59 on 17.09.2026 – the date of receipt of the documents as recorded by the recruitment system shall be decisive.
- The outcome of the competition will be determined on the basis of an analysis of the documentation submitted.
- The outcome of the competition, together with the reasons for the decision, will be available on the Public Information Bulletin (BIP) on the websites of the University, the Minister and the Minister supervising the University within 30 days of the competition’s conclusion.
- The University reserves the right not to fill the post without giving a reason.
- The final decision on the appointment of the candidate recommended by the Selection Committee rests with the Rector.

- the candidate’s statement about meeting the requirements of the art. 113 of the Act of Law on Higher Education and Science,
- the candidate’s statement that, in case of winning this competition, the Medical University of Gdańsk will be the candidate’s primary place of employment as defined by the Act of Law on Higher Education and Science,
- a declaration of consent to the processing of personal data contained in the presented documents for the purposes necessary for the implementation of the competition procedure,
- CV (information on the candidate’s previous work achievements),
- the duty to provide information to job applicants,
- a university diploma stating the professional titles the candidate has earned (along with the supplement),
- a bibliometric analysis list with IF score,
- confirmation of the right to practice the profession and professional specialization documents or specialized training,
- other documents confirming qualifications and competencies for teaching students.
