The Department of Biology at Ball State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure line faculty position of Assistant Lecturer of Biology to teach undergraduate courses in General Biology, Human Anatomy and Human Physiology for a one-year faculty appointment for the academic year 2026-2027. We seek an energetic, collegial, and student-centered educator who is committed to high-quality teaching and mentoring of pre-professional health majors and biology students.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, or Introductory Biology courses.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of A&P courses.
- Provide academic and professional mentoring to undergraduate students.
- Collaborate with departmental faculty and staff to maintain laboratory instruction that supports student success.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in biological sciences or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by date of appointment.
- Demonstrated ability or evidence of strong potential to teach undergraduate courses in Human Anatomy and Human Physiology.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in biological sciences or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- College-level teaching experience.
- Experience using evidence-based pedagogical practices.
- Familiarity with educational technology platforms (e.g., Canvas, McGraw-Hill Connect, virtual labs).
- Engaged in scholarly activity, as demonstrated by publications.
