Assistant Lecturer (English Section) (25260637)

Responsibilities:

The appointees are expected to:

• Teach core and elective credit-bearing courses, language enhancement courses, workshops and services, and other English courses assigned by the Language Centre;
• Assist in the design and development of course syllabuses, teaching materials and assessment tasks, as well as the creation of self-access language learning materials;
• Assist in organising events, workshops and extracurricular activities; and
• Perform other duties assigned by the Language Centre.

Requirements:

• Applicants should have a good postgraduate qualification in Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field, and native or native-like proficiency in English;
• A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience at the tertiary level is required;
• Possession of a postgraduate teaching certificate or diploma and a proven record of excellence in teaching would be an advantage;
• Expertise in teaching English for Academic or Specific Purposes and integrating AI and e-learning into course materials is expected; and
• Candidates with strong insight into pedagogical innovations and the ability to implement them in projects and funding applications will be an asset to the Language Centre.

The initial appointment will be offered on a one- to two-year fixed-term contract beginning in September 2026.

Re-appointment will be contingent on performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
